It was just the other week that hiker Johnston fell off a waterfall along the picturesque Arahura River in New Zealand. Miraculously, she escaped with minor injuries, but the air ambulance was unable to find her border collie Molly.
Helicopter pilot Matt Newton got involved in the drama, and after a fundraiser raised $11,000 (60,000 SEK), he set out a week later with a thermal imaging camera.
"As we worked our way up the river, we could see the dog," he says.
Molly probably survived by eating wild animals.
"She understood what we were doing, I think. She didn't run away but was happy to be saved," says Newton.
