Nils Höglander was available to play for the first time this season when his Vancouver hosted Detroit early Tuesday morning, Swedish time.
However, it was not a happy comeback for Höglander. Vancouver fell 0–4. Detroit's Swedish stars Axel Sandin-Pellikka and Lucas Raymond accounted for two and one assist respectively.
Höglander has been on Vancouver's injured list since he was injured in a preseason game against Calgary in late September. The 24-year-old played in 72 games last season, in which he managed eight goals and 17 assists.
He will replace Elias Pettersson, who has not played the last two games due to an upper body injury.
"We should know more tonight or tomorrow," Vancouver coach Adam Foote told the NHL's website .
