The 27-year-old underwent surgery at the end of June for a thigh injury. At the time, it was announced that the Atalanta defender would be back in two to three months, but now many are pointing to a longer absence.
According to Italian newspaper Il Giorno, the target is a comeback at the end of October. Atalanta sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli told the newspaper about Hien's rehabilitation:
"He will be like our winter signing."
Hien will then miss Sweden's first four matches in the Nations League - the home matches against Romania and Poland at the end of September and the away matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Romania at the beginning of October.
