The background is that two Iranian planes were banned from landing at Beirut's international airport last week since the USA warned that Israel might then strike the airport.

Israel accuses Iran and Hezbollah of using civilian air traffic to smuggle money intended for rebuilding the battered Shia militia.

Angry Hezbollah supporters responded by blocking the road between the airport and Beirut. On Friday, a UN commander was injured when a vehicle belonging to the UN peacekeeping forces was attacked and set on fire along the road.

The attack was condemned by Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun and according to Lebanese authorities, 25 people have been arrested.
