The Islamist Hezbollah movement in Lebanon is urging Israel to cease its attacks. The movement's leader Naim Qassem said in a televised speech that he could not accept Israel attacking targets in Lebanon despite the ceasefire agreement reached in November.

This attack must cease. Israel has bombed Beirut's southern suburbs for the first time since the ceasefire came into effect, said Qassem.

The Israeli military has carried out several airstrikes against targets in southern and eastern Lebanon in recent times. Targets in the southern Beirut area were attacked on Friday – for the first time since the ceasefire came into effect.
