The Swedish measurement technology company Hexagon is considering selling its software business for engineering simulation – for a value of several billion dollars, according to a person with insight into the matter.
The sale is said to be part of the company's efforts to streamline its operations. According to Bloomberg's sources, the company has spoken with advisors about a divestment of the business.
Hexagon has not commented on the reports.
The company bought the business, then named MSC Software, for 834 million dollars in 2017.
The Stockholm-listed Hexagon has approximately 24,800 employees in 50 countries.
