The boys, who were 16 years old when the crime was committed last spring, were convicted of sabotage and received 50 and 30 hours of youth service, respectively, according to the verdict from Falu District Court.
"The whole idea of taking the sirens came about after one of the boys saw that others had taken them to use as speakers in their A-tractors," he says in questioning by the police.
They then took an A-tractor to a high school and stole the sirens from the school's roof.
The boy explains in the interrogation that he "later realized that it was an alarm system that warns in case of war."
