A film based on Göran Persson's feud with a neighbor, a modern version of "Doktor Glas," and Henrik Dorsin as a diplomat during World War II. Here are the highlights of the Swedish film spring.

With Henrik Dorsin, Sissela Benn and Johan Glans in the cast, it might sound more like a comedy. But this is a drama about Swedish Foreign Ministry officials who, during World War II, use bureaucratic tricks to save as many Jews as they can from deportation to the death camps in Nazi Germany.

Action-packed comedy from the creators of I Just Want To Be Cool, whose style of humour is recognisable in the film about twelve-year-old Stephanie, who desperately wants to become a superhero, but the entrance exam to the School of Heroes is tough.

"

" (20/2).

Ulf Malmros's first film in ten years is inspired by Göran Persson's neighbourly feud at his manor in Sörmland. Here, the prime minister (Kjell Bergqvist) clashes with the eccentric neighbour Flodman (Robert Gustafsson). As usual in Malmros's films, Tuva Novotny also has a major supporting role.

"

" (27/2).

The Ark opens up to documentary filmmaker Martin Sandin about the rock group's rise and internal struggles (including the fateful September 11 joke) that led to their downfall - but also about the road back.

"

" (27/2).

Hjalmar Söderberg's novel was published in 1905. The main actors, Christian Fandango (Gregorius) and Isac Calmroth (Glas), believe the story has something to say to us today and have wanted to make a modern version of the classic. Calmroth has written the script and Fandango is on board as a producer.

"

" (20/3).

A young cleaning lady (Carla Sehn) poses as an influential gallery owner and bluffs her way into the art world. It’s the beginning of a psychological drama about power and desire from debut director Julia Thelin.

"The Beekeeper" (17/4).

Adam Lundgren plays the lead role in Marcus Carlsson's drama about a father and daughter who deal with a shared grief in different ways but must try to get closer to each other when he is struck by a serious illness.

"The Strikers" (15/5).

It started with a lone girl outside the Swedish parliament building on Fridays and became a worldwide movement. Documentary filmmaker Helena Molin has followed Greta Thunberg and the others in Fridays for Future since its inception in 2018.

"Je m'appelle Agneta" (spring, Netflix).

Eva Melander plays the lead role in the film adaptation of Emma Hamberg's novel about Agneta, who, at 49, leaves boring Sweden and begins an exciting new life in Provence, France.
