Helsinki Hosts Saunavision Festival as KAJ Enters Eurovision Contest

Helsinki is thinking of cashing in on the sauna hysteria when KAJ competes in the European Song Contest in May. Ten different saunas will be set up in the Finnish capital – which is calling the festival Saunavision.

Those who want will be offered, among other things, a container sauna, phone booth sauna or a sauna barrel during the festival, which takes place in a park by Tölöviken on May 16 and 17, writes Svenska Yle.

"Only bathe sauna" with KAJ are big favorites to win in the European Championship Song Contest and Helsinki, of course, wants to join in on the fun since Sweden's artists this year come from Finland.

The sauna bathing will be free, but registration is required. And the sauna barrels will close in good time before the final of the European Championship on May 17, so that the restaurants in the area do not get competition for the guests.

The City of Helsinki is aware that the sauna party for the Swedish contribution may be perceived as unfair towards the Finnish artist Erika Vikman.

The city, of course, wishes success for both Finland and Sweden, just like the whole of Finland surely does. But since the sauna is so much on the agenda in connection with the victory in Sweden, we wanted to take hold of the current sauna theme, says Helsinki City's marketing manager Sanna Forsström.
