The turns surrounding Fredriksdalsteatern in Helsingborg have been many – and partly infected – since the actor and farce queen Eva Rydberg in 2023 was forced to leave and then started over on a new ball at Sundspärlan in the same city.
When Helsingborg City conducted a procurement of a new actor for the theater for the period 2026-2029 during the summer, not a single bid came in, writes Helsingborgs Dagblad.
The requirement to play farce in Nils Poppe's spirit was removed and a new rental model with reduced rent for the first years was developed – still, no one was interested.
It is a tough situation right now for the performing arts in Sweden and the last few years' turbulence on the theater scene in Helsingborg has created uncertainty, says the chairman of the cultural committee Alexander Kolind (KD) to HD.
Now, Helsingborg City is instead taking over the theater, which since Eva Rydberg left has been run by the production company Anagram and subsequently Dröse & Norberg.
