The visit to the heavily guarded border between the two archenemies comes days after the US president's trip to Asia during which he made repeated attempts to approach reclusive North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un without success, AFP reports.
South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-Back accompanied Hegseth to the demilitarized zone, where soldiers from North and South Korea stand face to face. The ministers “affirmed the strong joint defense posture and close cooperation between South Korea and the United States.”
