Hegerberg Reflects on Missed Penalty in Norway's Euro Quarterfinal Exit

Ada Hegerberg was self-critical after once again having missed a penalty in the European Championship in Switzerland when Norway was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Italy. It is not good enough, says the 30-year-old to TV2.

Just like in the European Championship premiere against the home nation in Basel two weeks ago, Lyon's attacking star missed a penalty and scored a goal in the match. This time, however, it was a 1-2 loss instead of a 2-1 win, and Norway is eliminated from the championship while Italy advanced to the semifinal.

It's sour, it's very sour, says Ada Hegerberg to Norwegian TV2 and adds:

It's tough. It's the second penalty I miss (in the European Championship). It's not good enough.

Italy's attacking veteran Cristiana Girelli decided the quarterfinal in Geneva with her two goals, including the decisive one in the 90th minute.

It's tough, you feel that you're close. It's very bitter to concede at the end, says Norway's Barcelona star Caroline Graham Hansen to TV2.

Ada Hegerberg was still proud of the team.

I have to be completely honest and say that I'm proud of the group and how we've performed. We're close to being top four in Europe, but it didn't hold all the way.
