Today, the rules protect more species than is actually necessary, says Minister for Civil Affairs Erik Slottner (KD) at a press conference together with, among others, Minister for Climate and the Environment Romina Pourmokhtari (L).

Some species should receive stronger protection, others weaker protection.

One proposal is to reduce the species list covered, from around 300 to 230 species.

A new species being added is the hedgehog, says Romina Pourmokhtari.

Bluebell and ivy are among the plants that are no longer on the species list.

We are strengthening protection for the species that really need protection, says Pourmokhtari.

According to her, the new species list will come into effect on November 1.
