The Swedish star seemed to be chasing top placements once again when the last giant slalom competition before the World Championship was held in Italian Kronplatz.
The leader of the giant slalom cup, who has taken two victories this season and another podium finish, was third after the first run – but skied out after about 15 seconds of the second run.
Hector lost her line, slid too far down the course, and skied into a gate.
Damn, echoed in the TV broadcast in a frustrated cry from the Swede who seemed to be doing well despite the mishap.
It seems like it's okay, says national team coach Per Jonsson to DN.
Hector was not the only star who skied out. Federica Brignone, Italy, led on home soil after the first run, but did not reach the finish line in the second run either.
Instead, New Zealander Alice Robinson won after a cannon run where she skied up from fifth place.
Lara Gut-Behrami, Switzerland, finished second, a little over half a second behind, and Paula Moltzan, USA, third.
The World Championship in Austrian Saalbach takes place on February 4–16 and Sara Hector is not only a big medal hope in giant slalom.
She also has a podium finish in slalom this season.
Telling DN, Hector says she also plans to compete in the team event that opens the World Championship. The giant slalom competition takes place on February 13 and the slalom two days later.
