Olympic gold medalists Sara Hector (alpine skiing) and Walter Wallberg (moguls) are the Swedish flag bearers at Friday night's historic Olympic opening ceremony.

The main inauguration is in Milan, but Hector will be at a ceremony in Cortina and Wallberg in Livigno.

"It feels fantastic. I remember my first Olympics in 2018. Then it was Niklas Edin who was the flag bearer. Then I thought, 'I'll do that one day,' and now I've been given the honorary assignment," says Wallberg.

"It's an incredible honor, of course, to be asked. It's really cool to be part of this awesome team, and carrying the flag feels incredible," says Hector.

Both won Olympic gold at Beijing 2022.

"In my first Olympics as team manager, it feels incredibly safe to have two Olympic gold medalists from Beijing leading the Swedish team," says Swedish team manager Fredrik Joulamo.
