Tech giants Nvidia and Microsoft are joining forces and investing a total of $15 billion, equivalent to nearly SEK 150 billion, in AI company Anthropic.

The American companies state in a press release that they have entered into a so-called strategic partnership. With this, semiconductor giant Nvidia commits to invest $10 billion and software giant Microsoft $5 billion in Anthropic.

Anthropic was started in 2021 by former employees of Open AI and its chatbot Claude is a competitor to Chat GPT.

Notably, Microsoft already owns 27 percent of Open AI.

At the same time, Anthropic is committing to purchasing $30 billion in computing power – equivalent to nearly 300 billion kronor – from Microsoft's Azure cloud service. It will also use the latest versions of Nvidia's chip technology.
