The reigning champion team Malmö FF has made a major signing ahead of this year's Allsvenskan. The Icelander Arnór Sigurdsson – previously with IFK Norrköping and most recently with English Blackburn – has signed a three-year contract.

"Arnór Sigurdsson is a player who has previously shown how good his qualities stand out in Allsvenskan. He has also been abroad and gathered valuable experience that will help us both in the league games and in Europe", says MFF's sports manager Daniel Andersson in a press release.

Sigurdsson moved to IFK Norrköping as a teenager and has played for the Allsvenskan club in two stints.

The Icelander has also been a pro in CSKA Moscow and loaned out to Serie A club Venezia. After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, he chose not to return to Moscow but played for Norrköping for a shorter period before moving to Blackburn in the summer of 2023.

The 25-year-old midfielder has scored 14 goals in 46 Allsvenskan matches. Sigurdsson has scored two goals in 34 A-international matches for Iceland.
