Downpour is expected in areas of Hunan province and parts of the province have measured a precipitation that exceeds 400 millimeters.

Also southern parts of the country are warned for heavy rain on Saturday, which indicates a "significant threat" of flood disasters, according to the country's meteorological authority.

The warnings come a few days after nearly 70,000 people in southern China were evacuated due to severe flooding caused by the typhoon Wutip.

China has been affected by extreme weather events for several summers in a row, from scorching heat and drought to downpours and floods.
