A severe rainstorm is moving over parts of the country on Friday. The rescue service in Jönköping has received a number of alarms, reports local media.

SMHI has issued a yellow warning for rain similar to cloudbursts during the day and evening in parts of Götaland, inner and western Svealand and parts of southern Norrland. 30-40 millimeters may fall in a short time. Thunderstorms can also occur.

It is moving in a northeast direction so it is on its way north, says Hilda Westberg, meteorologist at SMHI, to TT.

Saturday looks set to be a cloudy day throughout the country.

But in Götaland, there will be some glimpses of sunshine, says Hilda Westberg.

In the northern parts of Sweden, it is expected to continue raining during Saturday. And during the night towards Sunday, a new rain area is expected to move in over southern and central Norrland.

On Friday afternoon, it rained heavily in, among other places, the Jönköping area.

Between 2 and 3 pm, the rescue service received 21 alarms, reports Jönköpings-Posten. Many of the alarms were about flooding.
