"We can now resume flights in a safe manner and prioritize home transportation and relocation of aircraft," writes Heathrow in a post on X.
"We hope to be fully operational tomorrow and will provide further information shortly," the post continues.
The massive London airport was closed after a fire late on Thursday evening, which caused a widespread power outage. Hundreds of thousands of travelers have been affected.
Flights have been diverted to Gatwick, Charles de Gaulle in Paris, and Shannon in Ireland, according to tracking services. According to Bloomberg, around 120 aircraft that were headed to the airport had to be diverted or turned back.
Anti-terror investigators are leading the police investigation, but the police say there are no signs of a crime. The police also say they are involved due to the location of the fire and its impact on critical infrastructure. The police have "specialized resources and capacity" that can help quickly find the cause of the fire.
Heathrow handles more than 1,400 flights and 200,000 passengers every day. It is one of the world's most trafficked airports when it comes to international travel. In January, the airport had 6.3 million passengers.
