Health care companies find ways to sidestep new overtime pay rules for part-time workers

In the new collective agreement that several unions have signed with their counterparts, even part-time employees will now receive overtime compensation if they work more than the basic schedule. Previously, only overtime compensation, which pays less, applied.

But Humana and several other healthcare companies have found a way to get around it more easily, writes Arbetet.

By offering a new parallel hourly wage agreement, the employer avoids paying overtime compensation.

They are circumventing the rules by signing new employment contracts in addition to the ones that already exist. This does not comply with our agreement, Eva-Marie Larsson of the Kommunal union tells the newspaper.
