If there had been a referendum on the euro in May this year, 28.7 percent would have voted yes, according to a Statistics Sweden survey. This compares with 32.0 percent in May 2025.

At the same time, the no side would have received 52.1 percent, up from 49.5 percent in May 2025.

The proportion of respondents who said they did not know how they would have voted on the euro was 19.2 percent.

The increased resistance to the euro and support for the Swedish krona is a break with a years-long trend and comes after the krona strengthened sharply against other currencies in 2025.

Statistics Sweden says the figures have a statistical margin of error of 1.3–1.6 percentage points.
