The Riksdag's finance unit discovered in spring 2024 that payments due each May had not been received into the account the previous year. SEK 160,000 was missing, and this year's payments of SEK 175,000 had been redirected to the manager's own account in the same way, but had not yet been paid out.
The manager left his job after the revelation and is now charged with fraud and attempted fraud. He admits what happened but denies any wrongdoing.
In an email to Expressen, the parliamentary administration says the fraud was revealed during an annual routine check and that procedures have now been clarified.
