The head of the regional forensic psychiatric clinic in Växjö is set to resign. The decision cites reports of shortcomings in security work.

Dagens Nyheter has revealed that patients were subjected to secret surveillance, including while they had sex or met with their lawyers.

The large-scale, suspected illegal surveillance has reportedly been going on for several years, and employees have been reported to the police, including for illegal wiretapping.

Now, operations manager Tina Fogelklou will have to leave her position.

"We need to work on operational development at the clinic, to prevent future shortcomings in safety work. We have concluded that this journey of change needs new leadership," says Director of Health and Medical Services Ewa Ekman in a press release.
