The former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel is not only a Manchester United icon but also a supporter of the English football club since a young age. Something that is clear in the new two-part documentary film about the Dane.
Like many supporters, I don't feel well about the situation. Because the club is not doing as well as it used to, says the 61-year-old to TT.
In October, Erik ten Hag was fired and replaced by Viktor Gyökeres' successful coach in Sporting Lisbon, Rúben Amorim.
I like Rúben. He shows that he is ready to put up a fight and he is good at communicating. But he can perhaps be a bit too honest sometimes.
"He will learn"
Recently, the Portuguese, for example, said that this year's edition can be "the worst team in Manchester United's history".
I'm not saying he has done anything wrong, but he may have created small problems for himself that arise when he talks to the media. But now we have someone who knows exactly what he wants, and that's important.
Amorim has also made it clear that a clear desire to play for United must exist. Something that a few days ago resulted in the striker Marcus Rashford being loaned out to Aston Villa, after being outside the squad for a longer period.
"Must have a great will"
Schmeichel highlights that it's important to act if a player wants to leave.
Then you shouldn't stay. Everyone who comes here must have a great will to play every minute for this club, and it should be seen on the pitch. So those who don't show it, but only play in United to "casha in", we don't want them.
In the documentary, which premieres on Sunday on SkyShowtime, we take a look back at the goalkeeper's successful career.
"Cleared my head"
We also get to see Schmeichel's musical talent – both on guitar and piano. An interest that has been of great help during his career.
After matches, I could come home and sit in my garage and play 24 hours a day if I wanted, without disturbing anyone. It cleared my head and made me ready for the next day, the next match.
He took piano lessons every Tuesday.
It was something I really enjoyed. And people used to say that I wasn't mentally fit on the pitch, but this made me able to keep calm inside.
