The series is inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's classic 1963 thriller "The Birds" and Daphne du Maurier's short story of the same name, but will be filmed in a new setting with new characters.
The lead role is played by Sarah Snook, known for "Succession", a series for which she received three Emmy nominations.
This is not the first time a remake of "The Birds" has been planned - previous attempts, including a new film starring Naomi Watts and a BBC television series, have been shelved.
