The jury at Helsingborgs Dagblad points out in its justification: "a writing characterized by absolute sensitivity, Scanian excesses and burlesque warmth".
Maunsbach had her breakthrough in 2022 with "Lucky Lada and Me", in which she returned to the Höör of her childhood. She herself believes that it is above all that novel, written in the spirit of Fritiof Nilsson The Pirate, that contributed to her receiving the award.
"I think I have a bit of the same approach to Höör that Hasse had to Tomelilla, in how we use and depict places and the people who live there,"
She tells Ystads Allehanda.
The prize is being awarded for the fourth time. Previous laureates include Uje Brandelius, Gabriela Pichler and Thomas Öberg.
