Olympic hopes are alive for the reigning slalom champion Petra Vlhova.

The 30-year-old has been selected for Slovakia's Olympic squad, despite not competing for two years because of injuries.

"I have decided to fight to be able to compete. It may sound a little crazy," Vlhova said last week.

The women's slalom at the Olympics will be held on February 18. Vlhova's decision on whether to compete may be delayed until just a few days before.

Vlhova injured her right knee in January 2024.

She made history at Beijing 2022 when she won Slovakia's first Olympic gold in alpine skiing.
