The first "Star Wars" film from 1977 made a big impression on Jude Law when he was a child.
We've all discovered "Star Wars" when we were small. And once you've gotten stuck in this world, you follow it, he says to TT.
Now he's himself a part of the "Star Wars" universe. In the TV series "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" which will soon premiere on Disney+, four children from a planet far out in the galaxy accidentally take off with an old spaceship. The four meet Jod, and together they experience perilous adventures on various planets.
I can say that this job made me reconnect with my inner child. It gave me a fresh perspective. Moreover, there's a childish quality to this guy's view of life – and he's a survivor.
"I'm protected"
Law tells us that most of the series' special effects were made on location while the camera was rolling. When TT brings up the question of how AI is used in the film industry, he regrets that he's not knowledgeable enough about artificial intelligence yet.
But I've made sure I'm protected, that they can't clone my face and use it. But the AI train has left the station, and what we need to do now is to make sure it becomes our friend. Then we're protected. Just being afraid of it leads to hysteria. AI can be a good tool.
"Always refreshing"
What is it that has made "Star Wars" survive for five decades and constantly give rise to new TV series and films, to prequels and sequels and animated series?
I think the essence is that it contains something we all feel connected to, the constant battle between good and evil. And it contains so incredibly much, from princesses to warriors and lords and rebels, to genres like western and pirate films. "Star Wars" has humor and drama and always feels refreshing.
Have his own children gotten stuck in the "Star Wars" world yet?
The youngest are probably still a bit too young, but I look forward to introducing them. Maybe this series is a good opportunity to do so.
