Weinstein, who was at the center of the sexual assault allegations that sparked the #MeToo movement, may learn his sentence on Wednesday for forcing his production assistant to perform oral sex on him in 2006.
Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison in 2020 for rape and sexual assault, but the sentence was overturned on appeal in 2024. However, a jury found him guilty on one count in 2025 after a new trial in New York.
The assistant said after the verdict that the defence's "victim-blaming and deliberate attempts to distort the truth were exhausting and at times dehumanizing." She also said the verdict gave her hope that there is a new awareness around sexual violence.
Weinstein will also later have his sentence re-determined in California for rape and other sexual offenses against an actress in a Los Angeles hotel room in 2013. A court upheld a conviction in June, but overturned the 16-year prison sentence because it was reduced due to the convictions in the New York case.
