The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is initiating an investigation into how Harvard uses the visa program for foreign students and guest researchers, announces Foreign Minister Marco Rubio.
The announcement of the investigation was sent on Wednesday via letter to Harvard's rector Alan Garber, reports The New York Times which has taken part of a copy of the correspondence.
Harvard has one week to provide information from the university regarding the visa program. According to Rubio, employees working with the visa program may be heard, as well as individuals at the educational institution who have such a visa.
Harvard has not yet commented on Rubio's announcement.
The Trump administration has for several months imposed sanctions on the USA's oldest and richest university, which it accuses of antisemitism.
