The American actor has played some of the most famous roles in film history for decades. He has played Han Solo in the "Star Wars" film series and the adventurous archaeologist Indiana Jones.
Harrison Ford has a unique presence in American society, an actor whose iconic roles have shaped world culture, said Sean Astin, chairman of Sag-Aftra, which presents the award.
Ford, 83, worked as a carpenter before his breakthrough in 1973 in “American Graffiti.” Ford says he is “deeply honored” by the award.
"Receiving recognition from my colleagues means a lot to me," says Harrison Ford.
Ford will be awarded the prize in March next year.
