Throughout the entire 2000s, it has so far been pop and dance music that has been behind the major international music successes. But on Spotify's list of the first half of the year's largest newly written Swedish overseas successes, something completely different dominates.

"The first six months of the year can be summarized as an incredibly clear marker for our Swedish export wonder – hard rock and metal", says Emma Vikström, music manager for Spotify in the Nordic countries.

In first and second place are Ghost with the songs "Satanized" and "Lachryma". Ghost also has the fifth most played Swedish song internationally for the half-year, "Peacefield".

Other rock bands like Sabaton and Viagra Boys are also on the list.

Dance music is not completely absent from the list, however. Third is "Baille" with the DJ Eriice, and further down in the compilation are the producer duo Neiked, as well as the DJ profiles Alesso and Lucas Estrada.
