The leading Asian stock exchanges started Thursday's trading on the up and thus took a cue from Wall Street.
In Tokyo, the important Nikkei 225 index had grown by 0.4 percent at lunchtime, while the broader Topix index increased by 0.3.
The cheerful tones were also heard from Hong Kong's Hang Seng index, which climbed 0.3.
The composite indices in Shanghai and Shenzhen joined in the chorus and added 0.8 and 1.4, respectively.
