Hannibal Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, is released on condition that the bail of approximately over 100 million kronor is paid.

The message from Lebanese authorities comes after Gaddafi has been deprived of liberty in Lebanon for ten years without prosecution. His lawyers have stated that he has been ill.

Judges have on Friday ordered release as soon as the bail money has been paid, announce legal officials.

One of Gaddafi's lawyers, Laurent Bayon, states however that the bail condition will be appealed.

Releasing someone on bail is completely unacceptable in a case of arbitrary deprivation of liberty. We will appeal the bail, he says and adds that his client is subject to international sanctions and cannot pay that much money.
