Former Rosengårds player Tanikawa scored the decisive goal at Old Trafford in England in the 84th minute.
The Japanese player's winning goal came eight minutes after Manchester United right-back Hanna Lundkvist tied the score at 2–2 with a header from a corner.
Before that, Danish star striker Pernille Harder had scored twice for Bayern Munich. Maya Le Tissier equalized to make it 1–1 with a penalty for the home team.
Just like Lundkvist, Julia Zigiotti Olme and Fridolina Rolfö also played the entire match for the home team.
The return leg in Munich will be played on April 1.
