A girl under ten years old fell out of a ride and fell just over a meter. The accident occurred at a festival on Värmdö outside Stockholm. According to the police, the girl fell out because the safety bar opened.

She is said to have been awake after the accident, but was taken to hospital by ambulance for care.

Jonny Berglund is the CEO of the company behind the amusement park. He regrets the incident and says that the accident is due to the human factor.

We have had technicians out and checked and there is nothing wrong with the carousel, he says to TT.

An employee has accidentally pushed a brake lever that got the carousel to "roll away" a bit, he explains.

It's extremely tragic that something like this has happened. We have a rigorous safety system, but people are people and people make mistakes.

According to Jonny Berglund, the amusement park will now work with its inspection company to see what "can and cannot be done" to further ensure safety.

Maybe it should be harder to access the brake lever, it's something we'll look at. We have routines for everything and will ensure that something like this doesn't happen again.

The police have started a preliminary investigation into suspected negligent bodily harm and endangering others.
