“Swedish banks are taking big steps this year,” notes Global Finance.
Handelsbanken climbs four places, from fifth to first. Swedbank jumps 16 places to second, while SEB rises 15 places to ninth.
Nordea, headquartered in Helsinki, is also among the top-ranked banks, in fifth place, while DNB Bank is ranked the 15th safest and Danske Bank 25th.
The ranking, based on a compilation of credit ratings from Moody's, S&P Global and Fitch, does not include publicly owned banks.
