The incident occurred in Vinterviken in Stockholm on December 4 last year.
According to the indictment, the two men, aged 19 and 20 respectively, repeatedly stabbed the teenager with a machete; some blows were aimed at the neck. The victim suffered serious injuries to one of his legs and his hand was cut off.
The district court wrote in its verdict that the crime should not be assessed as attempted murder, because it was not convinced either man would have acted the same way had they been certain the victim would die. They were instead convicted of particularly serious assault.
The motive for the attack is believed to have been revenge for a previous assault in September, according to the prosecutor.
