Hammarby Defeats Häcken to Extend Lead in Damallsvenskan

This year's big gold favorite Häcken against this year's second-biggest, Hammarby. The top meeting in Damallsvenskan ended with a win (1–0) for the latter – who now climb to the top of the table. This is what we have been waiting for a long time, says Julie Blakstad after "Bajen" defeated Häcken for the first time in three meetings.

It was clear that it was a meeting between two top teams at Hammarby IP.

Neither of the teams held back and it was intense – not least from the guests from Hisingen, who caused the packed stands to call for yellow cards.

I think it's something that happens automatically in a top match (a lot of duels). There's a lot of will throughout the entire game, and it's fun when it's like that, says Julie Blakstad.

Special goal

But if it wasn't for the lack of intense close combat, the 100% goal chances were missing – in the first half at least.

No bigger goal chances would come in the beginning of the second half either. The goal zero was broken anyway.

In a "Bajen counterattack, the ball finally ended up with left-back Julie Blakstad, who sent in what looked like a cross that sailed over Häcken goalkeeper Jennifer Falk and into the post.

It was actually a shot, says Blakstad with a laugh.

Extended league lead

I see that she's quite far out, so I try to lay it over her and towards the goal. So very cool to see it go in.

1–0 and a well-deserved goal for Hammarby, who were clearly the better team throughout the match.

The goal would also be the only one of the match, and Hammarby now extend their league lead, while this year's big gold favorite Häcken missed the opportunity to catch up (seven points behind Hammarby).

In Monday evening's parallel match, Djurgården managed to equalize late against IFK Norrköping in a match that ended 1–1. Dif is second in the table, four points behind Hammarby.
