The news that Lewis Hamilton would leave Mercedes after the season for the classic Ferrari hit like a bomb in the Formula 1 circus over a year ago.
Now, the competition debut for the Italian stable is completed, but he was not satisfied with how the car felt in the Australian GP in Melbourne.
The car was very, very difficult to drive today, says Hamilton.
The rain made it difficult for the drivers.
For my part, I was just grateful to have managed to keep it (the car) away from the wall, because that's where it wanted to go for the most part, he says.
It was new for him to drive a Ferrari in wet conditions, the Briton admits.
It requires different settings and a different way of driving, he says.
Hamilton took six of his seven World Championship titles (2014-2015, 2017-2020) for Mercedes. The first (2008) he won for McLaren.
The Briton Lando Norris, McLaren, won the Formula 1 premiere in Australia.
