The leader was killed along with his wife and two of his children in Gaza City, the movement designated as a terrorist organization confirmed in a statement, according to The Times of Israel.
Odeh "was sent to meet his accomplices in the depths of hell," wrote Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on X.
Mohammed Odeh was appointed head of the al-Qassam Brigades just under two weeks ago, after the former military chief Ezzedine al-Haddad was killed in a similar Israeli attack.
After Tuesday's attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Odeh was one of the architects of the October 7 attack, which was the starting point of the war in Gaza.
“We will reach everyone,” Netanyahu wrote on social media.
