Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya made his first public appearance during the night to Sunday since Israel's attempt to assassinate him in Qatar, according to Israeli media.

He appears in a clip published by Qatar-based al Araby. According to Israeli media, he talks about the attack that was intended to kill him along with other leaders within Hamas.

al-Hayya is the chief negotiator for the terrorist-stamped Hamas, but whether he will participate in the upcoming peace negotiations is not clear.

It was in early September that Israel carried out an attack in Qatar's capital Doha with the aim of killing members of Hamas leadership. Five people were killed in the attack, including al-Hayya's son. That al-Hayya himself survived was communicated a few days later.

The attack was condemned from several quarters as the attack took place in Qatar, a country that has been a mediator in the war between Israel and Hamas. The White House announced a few weeks later that Israel had asked Qatar for an apology for the attack.
