Development of the long-running action game series "Halo" is being moved to Activision. A new development team will be working on the next Master Chief game. British Rare ("Sea of Thieves") and World's Edge ("Age of Empires") are also coming under the Activision umbrella.
Only a few employees will remain at Halo Studios, which created the latest games in the series. A total of 268 people will be let go in this turnaround.
Swedish King ("Candy Crush Saga") will be responsible for Microsoft Casual Games, which is based in Redmond, US, and makes sudoku and other simpler games.
Bethesda takes over Obsidian ("Grounded"), while British Playground ("Forza") and American Turn 10 ("Fable") merge.
Microsoft also announces that Compulsion ("South of Midnight"), Double Fine ("Psychonauts") and Undead Labs ("State of Decay") are now independent, while Ninja Theory ("Hellblade") will be closed.
