The match clock had not even ticked past two minutes before Halmstad took the lead at home at Örjans vall. Hussein Carneil volleyed in after a corner to make it 1-0.

But the blue and white joy was short-lived. Just a couple of minutes later, VSK's top scorer Mikkel Ladefoged headed in the equaliser for 1-1. Then it took another 20 minutes before Taonsa Axel scored to make it 1-2.

When the home team's Andre Boman was sent off before halftime, HBK's hopes of victory were extinguished.

The second half was a route to three VSK points. Taonsa Axel made the final score 1-3.

The victory means that Västerås remains in the middle of the table in ninth place.

Halmstad remains in the relegation battle, with four points needed to secure survival.
