Halfvarsson on his stress: Felt panic

Sleep problems and feelings of panic about the future. In a new documentary, Calle Halfvarsson talks openly about the stress of trying to secure a place on the Olympic team, SVT Sport writes.

Halfvarsson had a bad start to the season when he failed in the Swedish premiere in Gällivare in November and then had to sit out the Scandinavian Cup in Östersund. Repeated colds and stress before the Olympics took their toll SVT.

"I could panic when I was going to sleep. I thought: What will happen to my finances in six months if I don't make it to the Olympics? Then I have to get a job," says Halfvarsson in the SVT documentary "Typiskt Calle," which depicts his Olympic bid.

"I couldn't sleep at night. I felt like a ghost."

Halfvarsson finally managed to secure a place on the Olympic team after a successful race in Oberhof days before the team selection.
