The author was feted this spring after serving ten months in prison for serious tax evasion. Now he is being praised for more than 30 years of writing.
According to the jury, Nesser shows that suspense literature can be combined with humanism, humour and linguistic elegance, and that Nesser "lets good conversation take its place alongside sudden, violent death."
The award was presented at the festival in Nora on September 12.
