The author Håkan Nesser receives a rejection of his application for retrial in the Supreme Court after having requested a new trial, writes Aftonbladet.

75-year-old Nesser was sentenced last year to 1.5 years in prison for three cases of serious tax offenses.

The Supreme Court had previously said no to trying Nesser's case, but in this application for a new trial, his representative claimed that a trial error had been committed.

Nesser and one more person have been sentenced for together having taken out nearly 15 million kronor from a company in Malta without reporting the dividends to the Tax Authority. They have admitted to providing incorrect information to the Tax Authority, but claim that it was not done with intent.

Håkan Nesser made his debut as an author in 1988 and has written 48 books that have been sold in around 20 million copies worldwide.
