According to the tourism industry's trade organization Visita, accommodation revenues in Gothenburg increased during the concert dates 6, 7 and 13 June by 240 percent compared to the same dates last year. This corresponds to revenues of 43 million kronor.
The increase in revenue is of course explained by the higher occupancy, but also an increased willingness to pay due to the increased demand is included in the equation.
"Gothenburg is a real event city with frequent visitor peaks and it means a lot for hotels and restaurants - we saw the same effects during the event summer 2023. Even though it's about temporary peaks, it shows how concerts, fairs and other events can make a real difference for a city", says Thomas Jakobsson, chief economist at Visita, according to a press release.
