Håkan Hellström Sets New Attendance Record at Ullevi Concert

A chilly National Day. Then Håkan Hellström raised the temperature considerably – and set a new audience record with the summer's first Ullevi performance in Gothenburg. What an honor it is to get to play here again, said Håkan Hellström.

With the song "I've Been to All Cities," Håkan Hellström opened the concert in front of a jubilant arena.

He then thundered on with "A Friend with a Car" from the debut album "Don't Feel Sorry for Me, Gothenburg" and the newly released EP "Go for Glory."

Wow! Good God, when will one get used to this sight, said Håkan Hellström from the newly constructed stage in the middle of the arena instead of the usual short side.

Hägg on stage

Student days, national day and Håkan at Ullevi are usually safe summer signs.

In a rainy, windy and cool Gothenburg, the feeling was anything but summery before Håkan Hellström was about to start the concert season on Friday.

But at 8 pm – barely an hour before Håkan Hellström went on stage – the sky burst open and Ullevi was suddenly filled with sunlight.

Shortly thereafter, Hägg appeared on stage – Hägg, that is. Gothenburg's profile Håkan Hägg is a well-known street singer who has performed in Nordstan for over 40 years.

Together with the pastor and musician Eva Erlandsson, Hägg acted as an opening act before he handed over the microphone to his more famous namesake for the evening's main number.

25 years as a solo artist

Among the guest artists were Miriam Bryant, Sarah Klang, comedian Björn Gustafsson, who among other things performed a sketch as a police officer. But also Nisse Hasselgren, a boy in a backwards cap from Nordhemsskolan in Gothenburg.

He performed a refined version of "Nordhemsgatan leads straight into heaven." Just before midnight, the evening culminated with Hellström on his knees, fireworks and the emotional "You're Almost There."

The three performances in Gothenburg (June 6, 7, and 13) take place in connection with Håkan Hellström celebrating 25 years as a solo artist.

The public figure of 73,162 also means that the artist breaks his own public record from 2022.
